Oak Grove
Parent Letter October 2009

Dear Parents,
October has come already! Halloween will fall on a Saturday this year. There will not be any costume contest or parties, so please do not send your child in their costume. We also do not allow hair coloring. Your child will receive a bag of candy from PTO as it has been done in the past.

Thank you to:

• Mrs. Talkington, Mrs. Thompson, and all the volunteers that helped with our Health Screening.
• Parents that helped with picture day.
• Parents helping with book fair.
• McDonalds for donating our Student of the Month lunches.
• Grandparents for a wonderful Grandparents Day!

Traffic
Most everyone has figured out the traffic routine and things are going well.

• If you are checking your child out early please do so before they are released to the bus lines or parent pick up. The parking lot must stay clear for buses, day care, and staff.
• As you pull up at the parent pick up line, be sure to pull up all the way. The more cars we can load at once the quicker the line goes.
• Encourage your child to watch for you and be waiting when you come to a stop.
• If you must pass someone while in line; remember there may be kids getting out or walking around to the passenger side. Give them lots of room, go slow, and pay attention.
• The building does not open until 8 a.m. Students dropped off before that must be walked into the building and signed into latch key. The student door at the drop off point is locked until 8. Your child has nowhere to go and no one to watch them until 8 a.m. Please do not drop them off before then.

The district has received the results of last year’s MAP test. Oak Grove met the goal of adequate yearly progress in all groups and subjects tested. The data that we received from the state will be further broken down so that we can continue to improve. Parent can expect their child’s score at Parent/Teacher Conferences. A schedule will be sent home with the students the week before.

October 31 – Halloween (No Costumes)
• November 1 – Time Change – Fall Back
